Prof. Scott Sherman

Dr. Sherman is one of the Founding PI’s of the NYUAD Public Health Research Center. He has been

involved in helping to oversee all aspects of PHRC and UAEHFS, during his 40+ trips to UAE since

2012. He is the leader of Tobacco Control Research within PHRC, which has particularly focused on

understanding use of midwakh/dokha, a tobacco product particularly common to UAE and otehr parts

of the Gulf Region.

Dr. Sherman leads Tobacco Control Research within PHRC and UAEHFS. The Tobacco Working Group

hosted the first international conference on midwakh research in 2017 and will be hosting the second

conference in 2020.
